Guy Collins

When Guy isn’t doing his day job as an Advertising Art Director, and after surfing or enjoying time with his wife and two daughters plus one dog, he’ll fill in the gaps with a spot of painting. The son to an art teacher and artist he has always been immersed in creativity, so it was inevitable Guy’s career took the path it did. However it’s only in recent years he’s picked up a brush and put it to canvas. Guy’s passion for the outdoors and nature are expressed through his work. Using acrylic paint on canvas or board, his style could be described as impressionistic. Playing with light, texture and simplistic composition, his paintings are a salutation to the Australian landscape from the coast to the inland.

Guy says: “Landscapes are fidgety subjects. They never sit still. The moment you want to grab, lasts for only a brief moment and then it’s gone. If I had a super power it would be to stop time for bit longer and really take it in. So I guess that’s what I’m trying to do with my work. I’m out to capture the atmospheric. It’s me trying to keep experiencing a small moment. I’m trying to tell natures micro stories.”
